Iowa Wildlife Center Development Phases
In order to carry out the mission of the Iowa Wildlife Center, several phases were identified and will be carried out over the next several years. The initial phase is nearly completed.

Conduct needs assessment, form partnerships, research similar facilities nationwide

Acquire land for IWC facility

Inform neighbors in surrounding community

Begin land stewardship projects (hired a part-time land steward)

Create Steering Committee and begin design of organization

Develop protected website for Steering Committee updates (pro-bono by Entrepreneurial Technologies of Des Moines)

Create internship program (hired first intern to help with administration and land stewardship tasks)

Develop initial public website (pro-bono by Entrepreneurial Technologies of Des Moines)

Develop conceptual site plan (pro-bono by RDG Planning and Design of Des Moines)

Develop founding board of directors

File for and receive Nonprofit corporation status under Iowa Code
IP Develop business plan, file for federal nonprofit status (to be completed by early 2010)
IP Begin fundraising for construction and staffing of facility (DONATE LINK).

Hold project announcement celebration (Spring 2010)

Design the wildlife clinic and hospital and outdoor cages (planned completion Spring 2011)
